Early September found me at one of the School of Life's evening courses - "How to have better conversations". The prevailing view seems to be that great quality conversations are more to do with attitude than technique.
And the top three characteristics of a skilled and interesting conversationalist? Empathy (truly stepping into the other person's shoes and understanding their perspective), courage (perhaps to say something new .. something you've never said before) and curiosity.
Given that good leadership is a lot about engagement and communication, it's no surprise that these are charcateristics often found in great leaders. Food for thought.
